Introduction about RCS
Use this page to understand RCS Business Messaging, RBM template categories, and supported RCS template types.
RCS Business Messaging
RCS Business Messaging transforms traditional messages into rich, branded conversations delivered in the customer’s native messaging app. You can use RCS to drive engagement and build brand loyalty.
RBM template categories
RBM templates are grouped into categories based on the type of message you send.
Messages related to a business, its products, or its services.
Messages related to transactions, invoices, payments, or reminders.
Messages used to authenticate users with one-time passcodes.
Promotional templates
Promotional templates are related to the business and/or its products or services. These templates may include promotions or offers, welcoming or closing messages, updates, invitations, or recommendations.
Promotional templates have sending restrictions. A brand can send only 4 promotional messages to the same user per month. If the user replies, the brand can send 2 additional messages to that user. Promotional messages can be triggered only during business hours: 7 AM to 10 PM.
Transactional templates
Transactional templates include transaction-related messages such as invoice generation, payment due notices, and reminders.
OTP / Authentication templates
OTP / Authentication templates enable businesses to authenticate users with one-time passcodes, usually 4-8 digit alphanumeric codes. You can use them at multiple steps in the login process, such as account verification, account recovery, and integrity challenges.
There are no such restrictions on Transactional and OTP templates.
Template types
RCS supports the following template types:
Use a standalone rich card message.
Use multiple rich cards in a carousel format.
Use a text-only message.
